What is a longitudinal testimonial?

The Leadership Trust® hears back from our graduates days, weeks, months, and years after they graduate. Only recently have we decided to sort through their long-term testimonials and report back to you what they had to say regarding the impact of their leadership workshop long after their graduation - both at work and at home and of course, with their permission. Thus, the idea of offering longitudinal testimonials was born! So please check in with us over time to see additional longitudinal testimonials as we go about growing this new project.

Note. Don Ferrier came to us in 2004 near despair and determined not to go through bankruptcy. He has given us his permission to share his story as follows.

Don Ferrier, president of Ferrier Builders, Inc. and Ferrier Custom Homes, represents the third generation of the Ferrier family in the quality construction business. This does not mean that Don breezed into business for himself because of something handed to him. Quite the contrary; Don is self-made. But he also created some unnecessary challenges along the way that never would have happened had his leadership skills already been honed.

Don began Ferrier Builders in 1984. In 2005, Ferrier Builders, Inc. started building High Performance (extremely energy efficient, comfortable, healthy and durable) custom homes as Ferrier Custom Homes and is now a nationally recognized leader in his field. What's important here is that Don attended the PLDP in 2004 that helped him achieve his new direction in 2005 that started his pathway to fame and fortune. Yet Don has remained modest through all of this. One thing that was standing in his way was his being too good for his own good, which he courageously put into proper perspective during his workshop.

Don has been continually recognized by the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB) and the US Green Building Council (USGBC) for his commitment to sustainable methods and techniques. He has been noted by the NAHB as one of their most popular speakers and has spoken on numerous occasions nationwide for the NAHB on green building. Perhaps you may recall having seen Don receiving recognition on NBC News?

Ferrier Custom Homes is the 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 Energy Value Housing Award recipient for the construction of the most energy efficient elite custom home in a hot climate by the National Association of Home Builders Research Center, U. S. Department of Energy, and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. Ferrier was also the first builder in Texas to build a home to achieve the LEED Platinum rating. In 2007, Don was recognized as one of the godfathers of green building by the Green Built North Texas Council. Most recently, Don was one of 20 builders in the nation that took the challenge by walking on stage and receiving a certificate from DOE Secretary Bodman at the launch of the DOE Builders Challenge. Don, you are an inspiration to us all!
